It was a full house and we got a standing ovation at the end. What a great way to get back into concertizing after three years of no solo piano concerts! See more photos from the concert HERE. I also played a concert for my Aunt Harriet’s Independent Living Community, Willamette Oaks. It was the biggest crowd they have had there and they loved it. Here I am with my super-ager Aunt Harriet! 102 years young! We are really looking forward to our AZ/SoCal concerts and road trip at the end of May into June. Just a heads up. I am working with a drummer and will be putting out some very new and different music this year. I have a number of new subscribers to the newsletter this month, so I ‘m keeping a lot of the new singles and links. Something very different instrumentation wise. “Pastoral” was released on May 12th. You can hear a sneak preview on Bandcamp. The word pastoral has many meanings. Pastoral can relate to the countryside. It can mean pleasingly peaceful and innocent. It can relate to spiritual care or guidance. It can be about shepherds or herdsman. I like to think that all of these definitions can apply to my latest composition, “Pastoral.”  “Dream” was released on April 28th. It is available for streaming on  Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music. It is also available for downloading at Amazon, iTunes, and Bandcamp. “Dream” is total fantasy. It’s another reality that is not related to the reality of day to day living. It is other worldly. It is the past or the future but not the present moment. It is something that is not real. It could be in our hearts and minds but it is not tangible. It could be an out-of-body experience. It could be something that is happening while we sleep.It could be pure imagination.  “El Faro” was released on April 14th. It is available for streaming on  Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music. It is also available for downloading at Amazon, iTunes, and Bandcamp. “El Faro” means The Lighthouse in Spanish. The Lighthouse is a beacon that guides us towards our highest values. It’s about Awakening and Higher Consciousness.  “Green Chiles” was released on March 31st.  It is available for streaming on  Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music. It is also available for downloading at Amazon, iTunes, and Bandcamp. I like spicy foods and I have always enjoyed green chiles. What I didn’t realize is that green chiles are a real New Mexican thing.Especially Hatch green chiles. Now that I’m a New Mexican, I feel I have what it takes write a song about green chiles. Sunset in Kona, HI NEWS Hello! The photo above was taken on our trip to Hawaii. We had a most fantastic ten days getting to know the Big Island. True to it’s name, it is the largest of the Hawaiian Islands and there is so much to see there. Fortunately for us, we had friends living on the island who acted as our tour guides and had us going to all of the best places to explore. Louis Landon October 2022 Newsletter

On the way to the top of Mount Taylor NEWS Hello! The photo above was taken on our hike to the top of Mount Taylor on the Gooseberry Trail. It’s a 6.2 mile, 4 plus hour hike, with an elevation gain of 2,017 feet. As you can see in the picture below, Christine and I made it to the top, which is 11,301 feet above sea level. Hiking from 9,000 to 11,000 feet requires deep breathing as there is less oxygen up there. It was challenging  and rewarding. My sabbatical continues to serve me well. In this time I have done a lot of meditation and thinking about what I might be doing with my time going forward. Something that came to me recently was a change of mission. My new mission is to share love, peace, joy, and gratitude through music. I think that this mission will support and also dictate the kind of music that I will be composing and recording going forward. We shall see what’s meant to be! I’ve been working on deep relaxation out here in NM. It’s going well and it has led to some consideration towards creating music again. I just did an extended improvisation on Facebook Live. If you have a Facebook account, you can watch and listen HERE. I really enjoy improvising and I think that the combination of a deep, relaxed state and piano improvisation will create some really relaxing and uplifting music. We are ecstatic! Everything is greening up. For New Mexico, especially after last year’s “nonsoon”, this is thrilling. It  looks like more rain is on the way. With the clouds that come from this type of weather system, we are getting spectacular sunsets. In the sunset photo above, Cabezon, a volcanic plug, is off in the distance. Monsoon rain over the Sandia Mountains coming our way! NEWS I hope that you are having a most excellent summer! Christine and I have continued to put a lot of energy into our home. We are also making good friends here. We are so grateful to have found our spot on the planet where we can relax and enjoy our lives in peace and quiet. Gratitude! I have been playing a lot of tennis lately, both singles and doubles with a number of different groups. I just got into a very serious group in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque that is definitely above my level. Pat Metheny used to say that he wanted to be the worst player in any band he played in. I feel the same way about tennis. That’s how you get better! I am moving up the tennis food chain. It’s a great workout and it’s fun! It’s been a long time…

NEWS New Album Album of the Year! Featured Single One of our latest projects is creating a garden. Having a garden in the Southwest is much more challenging than having a garden on the East Coast. Back in New York, I used to have a 2,500 sq. ft. garden, with a greenhouse. One truckload of horse manure in early spring and the only challenge was keeping up with the weeds. Here in the Southwest, shade from the sun and protection from high winds is a priority. It’s also important to have a drip irrigation system. Water is scarce.  We love having a garden, not only for the fresh produce, but for the birds and other wildlife that it attracts. Stay well, stay safe! Panama Piano Sheet Music Book

This is a hard copy sheet music book for the album PANAMA PIANO. It is available at louislandon.com. You can also download a PDF copy HERE.

Panama Piano was released on July 10, 2020 and was recorded at the Peace Palace, Sedona, AZ on a Steinway B during the first two weeks of May, 2020. 

This album was the result of a two week road trip through the country of Panama. It was totally magical. It was inspiring and joyous. Hopefully you will hear it in the music. I approached this album in a similar way to Southwest Solo Piano, with one major difference. For Southwest Solo Piano, I would think about each of the places that we visited, and then improvise music based on those thoughts and feelings. With Panama Piano, I started with an improvisation after considering places and experiences, but instead of recording the improvisations, I would compose the pieces using the ideas and melodies that came up during the improvisation.

Feel Good Piano Sheet Music Book
